NEXT weekend will see the welcome return of a much-loved country show near Yate. 

South Gloucestershire Show - known as South Glos Show - is returning after a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic. 

The event is due to be held just off Westerleigh Road in Westerleigh on Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6. 

Organisers have promised that this year’s event will be "bigger and better than ever before”. 

New editions to this year’s show include Shetland Pony racing and a new wellness area featuring yoga and meditation classes. 

Kaleb Cooper from Clarkson Farm is also due to appear as an esteemed guest of honour on Sunday, August 6. 

Other activities include awe-inspiring Bird of Prey displays, high-flying BMX Displays, and impressive tractor and classic car displays. 

The show will also feature a livestock area where visitors can get up close to farm animals.

In addition, dog owners will have the opportunity to showcase their beloved pets in the highly anticipated dog competitions, where prizes will be awarded for various categories. 

There will also be live music, a fairground as well as various stalls selling unique and handmade crafts and a wide selection of food and drink.

The Pig Prize Cup is also due to be awarded to one of the competitors for the first time in 136 years.

The South Glos Show is an annual event that celebrates and highlights the area’s vibrant culture, agricultural heritage, and community spirit. 

Tickets are available for adults from £10 and £6 for children aged 5 - 15, children 4 and under go free.
