A VILLAGE near Wotton burst to life over the weekend with the successful return of a much-loved annual show.

Kingswood Village Showday returned on Saturday, September 2 with dozens of visitors and classic cars alike flocking to the show.

The event was officially opened by King Toby and Queen Rosie, recently crowned at the Coronation celebrations.

New Generation Dance Group provided entertainment in the arena, and Punch & Judy and the magic show in the marquee proved to be as popular as ever.

A dog show also took place with a wide range of craft and games stands, as well as the Beer, Cider and prosecco bar, the BBQ, Sebs Ice Creams and WI Teas.

It is believed around £3,500 was raised for organisers Kingswood Village Association who organises a variety of events in the village.

A spokesperson said: “The quality of the exhibits this year in the produce and handicraft show was excellent.

“The village hall looked so colourful from all the pictures on display produced by the playgroup and Kingswood Primary school children.

“Kingswood was yet again graced by some exceptional and amazing cars.

“The judges had ten classes to judge and a hard task in deciding their preferred choice, commenting afterwards how challenging it had been to choose a winner with such a range of high quality classic cars entered.”
