A CHEEKY rescue dog has recently marked three years living in an animal shelter near Dursley.
Yoko, a five-year-old terrier, joined the rescue at Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home in Cambridge in February 2021.
The team says his previous family could no longer care for him and has not yet found his forever home.
To commemorate the poignant anniversary a new fundraising challenge has been launched by staff to raise money for CDCH.
Natasha Williams, and Ebony Poole from the animal charity along with Yoko are planning to tackle a huge climb, the Pen y Fan in Brecon Beacons on March 4.
Natasha Williams, animal care assistant said: "I fell in love with Yoko the first day he arrived at CDCH.
“The moment he wagged his little tail at me I couldn't resist his cheeky little terrier ways.
“Yoko means a lot to me, he is so loving towards the people he knows and I wish other people could see that.
“I can't wait to take Yoko on new adventures and see what 2024 brings him."
The team are also hoping Yoko will find his forever home soon.
Staff have described the pooch as a typical terrier who is “fun-loving” and has a “quirky personality”.
Natasha added: “Sadly, despite being an amazing character and having multiple meets with new potential adopters, Yoko has found himself without a home of his own for much longer than anticipated.
“His brave and outgoing nature makes him the perfect match for someone who loves the outdoors and seeks a four-legged companion to share the excitement with.
“If you’re an adventure seeker with a warm heart, a comfy sofa and ready to take on a brave and outgoing companion, with all his quirks, then Yoko may be your perfect match.”
