Finest photography of Wotton-under-Edge on show in new Electric Picture House calendar
WOTTON’S finest photographers are once more showcasing their work in a popular calendar.
The Wotton Electric Picture House has released its 2014 calendar featuring beautiful imagery of the market town and its surrounds.
This is the third year in which snappers have had the chance to compete in a photographic competition for a place in the calendar.
Previously pictures for the cinema’s calendars were supplied by a handful of very keen supporters of the cinema.
The task of supplying suitable and photogenic shots of Wotton was opened up to local enthusiasts in the form of a photographic competition which proved to be so successful that the decision was made to repeat it again this year.
Chairman of the Electric Cinema Company, the charitable wing of the Electric Picture House, Trevor Mason, said the calendar got better every year.
“Once again we have a wonderful selection of pictures and I am especially delighted with the wide range of contributors,” he said. “Some are simple hobbyists and at least one is a very keen amateur who is trying to break into the profession. All were equal in the eyes of the judges and I would encourage anyone who enjoys taking photographs to have a go for next year’s calendar.”
All the featured photos were taken within a 10-mile radius of Wotton-under-Edge and include the sun setting across the river at Purton and on Wotton’s Rushmire Hill, a beautiful rainbow landing on Long Street in Wotton and bright summer fields at Hawkesbury Upton.
The calendar is now available for £5 from these Wotton firms: the cinema, One Stop Shop, Thomas’s clothing and footwear shop, the Wotton Farm Shop, Daisy M Vintage gift shop, the Market Place financial advisers and the Bear Street Garage.
