MUSICAL lovers are invited to follow the yellow brick road to a Yate school to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Brimsham Green School is staging the infamous tale of Dorothy and her beloved dog Toto as she finds herself transported to a strange world full of witchcraft and wizardry after a tornado hits her family farm in Kansas.

Audiences will travel with her as she meets new friends including lion, tin man and scarecrow. But they are also in for a few surprises as the school puts its own twist on the classic tale.

Assistant head teacher Rachel Edwards said: “We have put a modern spin on the play and so audiences should be prepared for Bollywood Munchkins, break-dancing flying monkeys and snake encrusted wicked witches.”

The show is the first musical Brimsham Green School has ever produced and is being directed by head of drama Katie Hitchcock.

There will be three performances from Wednesday, October 23 until Friday, October 25 (7pm) in the Brimsham Green School drama hall. Contact the school for tickets on 01454 868888.
