A CAMPAIGN group in Yate is asking residents for their experiences of traffic and congestion ahead of thousands of new homes being built in the town.

The Brimsham Park Community Campaign, launched in response to proposals for a new development of 2,500 houses in north Yate, has stepped up its efforts after Heron Homes’ plans won approval in November.

The campaign is now concentrating on ensuring the development brings with it improvements to the road networks, public transport and infrastructure and is built with sensitivity to its neighbours.

Mike Archer, who is heading up the campaign, said: “With outline planning approval now in place and detailed planning due to start we still have an opportunity to influence the design and timings of the building works.

“We would like to hear people’s views of what they feel the issues are now with parking and travelling in Yate and the surrounding areas. Do they feel there should be improvements before the housing development goes ahead?”
