WITNESSES are being sought to an assault in Yate on Thursday, January 2.

The assault occurred at around 2pm at Sundridge Park near to the junction with St Briavels Drive.

The victim was walking along away from Tesco along Sundridge Park when he asked a moped rider who had been travelling up and down the road to slow down.

The moped rider allegedly then stopped and started threatening the victim and he was subsequently assaulted.

An investigation has begun and enquiries are piecing together the circumstances of the assault.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in police custody.

Enquiries into an assault in Yate have identified two men who were in the area and may have been responsible for the assault.

Sine the investigation started, new information has identified two people who were in the area and may have knowledge about the assault. Those two men are asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police.

Another man who was arrested on suspicion of assault has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
