Appeal to trace unique jewellery stolen in Winterbourne burglary

Gazette Series: Police are trying to trace these missing pendants, stolen from Winterbourne Police are trying to trace these missing pendants, stolen from Winterbourne

POLICE want to speak to anyone who has been offered these distinctive items of jewellery for sale.

The unique pendants, which feature animal and moon and star designs, were stolen in a burglary at a property in Winterbourne last month and officers hope by releasing photographs of the jewellery now they may be able to unit them with their owners.

The 15ct gold jewellery was made by the householder’s father, and included 22 pendants with designs of horses, swans, stags, elephants, wheat sheaves, acorns, crescent moons and a star.

Other items taken in the break-in on Monday, January 27 included a laptop computer and cigarettes.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Rob Cainey said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who has seen these unusual items of jewellery offered for sale.

“They obviously have tremendous sentimental value for the family involved and I hope these photographs will jog someone’s memory. We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the village on January 27.”

The thieves gained entry by smashing a window of the house.

Sgt Cainey said, however, Winterbourne remained a safe place to live.

He said: “Although this is a safe place to live, with burglary falling, I’d recommend taking photographs of any precious items, as this family did.

“I would also suggest investing in a safe which has been tested to meet Sold Secure quality standards to keep your valuables in. You can find more home security information on our website.”

Anyone with any information which could help the police investigation is asked to contact PC 778 Gary Clark quoting reference 9301/14 via www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
