YATE is springing into action when it comes to children’s Easter activities during the school holidays.

The town’s library is holding a free drop-in session for primary school children on Tuesday, April 15 (10.30am) when youngsters can make lots of bunny and Eater-related crafts.

Yate Heritage Centre hosts a clay workshop on Thursday, April 10 (10.30am-12noon or 1.30-3pm) for children aged five to 12. Visitors can enjoy making clay animals including clay bunnies and baskets. Then on Wednesday, April 16 (10.30am-12noon or 1.30-3pm) there will be egg painting workshops also at the heritage centre.

At the town’s leisure centre, a whole programme of Easter events and children’s holiday programme is being staged including day camps to help cover childcare. Sessions run from Monday, April 7 to Thursday, April 17. Visit www.activecentres.org for more information.

Yate’s spring calendar would not be complete with the town’s annual Easter egg hunt on Bank Holiday Easter Monday (April 21) in Kingsgate Park. The popular hunt, which starts at 10am, will challenge children to find eggs hidden across the park. Organised by Yate Town Council, the event also includes an Easter bonnet parade and judging at 11.30am.

Meanwhile in Frampton Cotterell, the Creation Station at the village Scout Hut is holding a morning of Easter workshops on Monday, April 14 (10am-12.30pm). Children can drop in and buy a creative bag full of exciting things to make. Email suehammond@thecreationstation.co.uk for further information.
