THOUSANDS of spectators are likely to have the Batman tune in their head this weekend when Andy Sargent from Cam runs by in the London Marathon as the caped crusader.

The 41-year-old from Everside Lane, who is a teacher at Ribston Hall High School in Gloucester, is undertaking the 26-mile challenge in a bid to raise over £1,000 for Winston’s Wish, a charity supporting bereaved children.

“It is a charity that has supported our family in the past and so I am glad I have this opportunity,” he said.

“I am a bit nervous about it, the nearer the day gets. I just hope I can keep on going.”

The father of six-year-old Mia and four-year-old Gracie has ran the marathon twice before but was in his 20s so is expecting the day to be a challenging one.

With a personal target of 4hours and 30mins to beat, his daughters, along with wife Sharon and other family members, will be cheering him on at the event on Sunday, April 13.

“The crowd will really help. They always come out and are just amazing,” he said.
