POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a car crash in Winterbourne.

It happened on Hicks Common Road at 6.15pm on Friday, April 11 when a Hondo S800 was in a collision with a parked car.

The driver of the Honda, a man thought to be aged 60, was declared dead at the scene. A passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was rescued from the vehicle by the emergency services.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews from Speedwell, Patchway and Temple Back stations and worked with paramedics to free the passenger.

A police spokesman said: “A Honda S800 car was travelling along the road and after negotiating a number of bends, was in collision with a parked car.

"The driver was later declared dead at the scene. A passenger in the car was taken to hospital and remains there with serious head and neck injuries – not believed to be life-threatening.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information to help our investigation.”
