THREE young women were taken to hospital after a crash at an accident blackspot in Yate last night.

The women, all in their late teens or early twenties, were helped from two cars which collided at the junction of Rodford Way where it meets Shire Way.

All three were taken to hospital as a precaution but none are believed to have suffered serious injuries.

The accident happened at 6.47pm on Wednesday (May 21).

Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesman James Bladon said: "Two crews from Yate and one from Temple attended and worked alongside paramedics.

"Initially it was thought there may be people trapped in their cars but upon further inspection crews assisted three females from their vehicles.

"All were helped out of their vehicles into the care of paramedics and all three were taken to hospital as a precaution."

The junction has been the scene of numerous accidents in recent years. At the beginning of this month Dodington parish councillors held a meeting with South Gloucestershire Council to discuss the dangers of the road.
