PUBLIC art created by adults and children alike is going on display in Yate this weekend.

The Art by Yate project has been collated over several months and will go on view to the public for a week starting from this Sunday, May 25.

The exhibition will include work by people of all ages from a variety of different backgrounds across Yate and Chipping Sodbury as well as local artists and was produced with help from Chipping Sodbury Lions Club.

Each piece of work will measure 8x8 inches and will be displayed in the former Burger King unit in Yate Shopping centre until Saturday, May 31 (from 10am daily).

Old Sodbury artist Juan Nuevo, who has spearheaded the project, said: “Art by Yate is collaboration between Chipping Sodbury Lions, local artists, children and residents of all backgrounds.

“Together they have been working to create a colourful and imaginative exhibition of original artworks, each reflecting the artist's particular talents, professional life and/or personality.”

The artwork will be on sale and will raise funds for Chipping Sodbury Lions.

Added Juan: “Whether you admire the artists for their skill, artistic flair or simply for being you friend or relative, by participating in Art by Yate you are helping to make a difference in the lives of many local people, and charities that benefit from the support of the Lions club.”
