A TREDWORTH man has been sentenced to eight years for child sex offences.

Kinsley Warnakulasuriya, 47, of Blenheim Road was convicted yesterday of seven counts of taking an indecent photograph of a child, four counts of causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity and six counts of possession of indecent photographs of children.

Warnakulasuriya was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court and will serve six years in prison and a further two years on an extended sentence.

Once he has completed his sentence he will be deported back to his native Sri Lanka.

The officer in charge of the case, detective sergeant Mark Vickers, said “Firstly I would like to thank the victims for their courage during what was an extremely distressing ordeal for them.

“Kinsley Warnakulasuriya is a dangerous sexual predator who exploited his victims. This sentence serves as a strong message that we will do whatever it takes to bring people like this to justice.

“Our team of dedicated officers worked tirelessly to obtain justice for the victims. We hope that they can now move on with their lives.”
