A FIVE-piece band will join the celebrations at a Winterbourne charity shop's anniversary party.

The QBand will top the bill at the Break shop in High Street, which has been serving the community for 30 years.

Customers past and present have been invited to go along to the premises on Saturday, September 6, to enjoy the music by the North Common-based band, which has played at venues across the UK and overseas.

There will also be dancing, a buffet and presentations to volunteers who have been helping at the shop since it opened in 1984.

Roger Lendon, the retail manager, said: "All Break volunteers, customers, donors and supporters will be most welcome. It promises to be a fabulous night."

The party will start at 7.30pm and continue until 11.30pm. Tickets cost £10, to include the buffet, and can be bought from the shop.

Break provides homes for children in care and currently has 16 charity shops in the West Country, including in Thornbury, chipping Sodbury, Wotton-under-Edge and Berkeley.

Last year it decided to also give money to projects that directly help children and families, including CHICKS, a national charity which provides respite breaks for disadvantaged children across the West Country.
