PRESIDENT Obama is rumoured to be landing at RAF Fairford tonight, before attending the NATO summit in Wales.

Security has been getting tight around the area as world leaders arrive from all over to attend the gathering in Newport.

The summit will be the largest gathering of international leaders ever to take place in Britain.

Kempsford Parish Council has reported that there have been rumours that Whelford Road near the airbase will be closed due to the President's expected visit.

The council has been advised that an emergency road closure notice is in place from 7am today until 10pm on Friday, although the road will only actually be closed for approximately 15-20 minutes if the President does choose to fly in to the airbase.

It is believed that two or three other bases in England are also making similar security arrangements and Obama may not even come to Fairford.

A police convoy, linked to the NATO summit, was also spotted travelling through the Cotswolds earlier this week and was seen in Cirencester and Tetbury.

The NATO summit begins tomorrow.
