POLICE in Gloucestershire have warned of the effects how weather could have on the county's pets.

With temperatures expecting to be up in the upper 20s/low 30s over the next few days, dog owners are being reminded not to leave their pets in cars.

Gloucestershire Police have had 34 calls since the beginning of this month relating to this issue and on four occasions officers had to gain entry to the vehicles to release the dogs due to their deteriorating condition.

Be aware that you can be prosecuted under Section 3 of the Animal Welfare Act if you cause unnecesary suffering to an animal in this way.
