HISTORY-LOVERS will be treated to a day of archery and sword-fighting in Yate.


Yate & District Archaeology Group will host the Medieval Archaeology Day on Saturday athe Yate Heritage Centre and on St Mary's Green to mark Magna Carta and Agincourt.


The event will start with medieval storyteller Carmen Bonnell at 11.30am, followed by a Tudor performance at 12.30am.


Community officer David Hardill, said: “It should be a great day with demonstrations of archery, sword fighting, Viking life, medieval food, Tudor domestic life plus a archaeological dig on the green on the day.
“It is not to be missed.”


The event, which will run until 3pm, has been funded and supported By South Gloucestershire Council, Yate Town Council and Dodington Parish Council and is free entry to all.
