YOUNG drama enthusiasts are invited to join a multi-award winning theatre group in Thornbury.

Northavon School of Drama, which meets at the Chantry, Castle Street, is looking for new members to join between the ages of 11 and 18.

The school has vacancies for new students to audition and take part in its exciting Easter production of the 1920s musical ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’, under its performance name of ‘Northavon Youth Theatre Company.’

School principal Lyn Bedford said the group, which will celebrate 40 years of production next Easter, will mark the event with what she hopes to be a stunning production.

“We have a great bunch of enthusiastic young people and we promise you a warm welcome,” she said.

“You will learn performance skills and improve your confidence while making new friends and enjoying yourself.

“Although you’ll be asked to do a basic joining audition - not in front of the whole group - we really want your energy and enthusiasm.

“Our last production, 'Sunshine On Leith', featuring the music of The Proclaimers, has won two nominations in the Rose Bowl Awards for Drama & Music, so fingers crossed for another trophy to add to the eleven we already have.”

The group meets from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays during term time.
