FINALISTS for our Pub of the Year competition have been revealed.

Nominations have poured in and the five pubs in each area with the most support have been shortlisted as finalists.

In the Stroud district they are The Falcon Steakhouse in Wotton-under-Edge, The Old Badger Inn in Eastington, The Fleece Inn in Hillesley, The Old Spot in Dursley, and The Bear Inn in Bisley.

For Yate and Chipping Sodbury the five pubs are The Horseshoe in Chipping Sodbury, The Rose and Crown in Rangeworthy, the Beaufort Hunt in Chipping Sodbury, The Globe in Frampton Cotterell and The Rose and Crown in Pucklechurch.

For Thornbury, The Royal Oak in Cromhall, the Anchor Inn in Lower Morton, Hawkes House in Thornbury, The Swan in Thornbury and The Fox in Old Down are the finalists.

There will be a winner for each area.

Voting for the winners will now take place until October 1, with the triumphing pubs announced in our October 8 edition.

We will profile the five finalists in each area in the paper this month.

The Gazette has teamed up with Stroud MP Neil Carmichael and Yate and Thornbury MP Luke Hall for the contest. The winning landlords will receive a trophy and be invited to spend a day in Westminster and serve their brewery’s beer at a bar in the Houses of Parliament.

To vote for one of the pubs on our shortlist send the voting slip in our newspaper by post to Gazette Series, Reliance House, Long Street, Dursley, Gloucestershire, GL11 4LS.

Nominations will not carry over as votes, meaning you will have to send off the official voting slip to help your local come out on top.

Only votes cast using the official slip will be counted. The slip will be printed in the paper each week this month and you can vote as many times as you wish.
