GOOD advice can boost your health. That is the message of this year’s annual general meeting of the Stroud and District Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
Chief executive of Chesterfield CAB Neil Storer will speak at the meeting and describe how his advice service is supported by local health service commissioners to give “advice on prescription”.
The service helps people with a range of problems, including money worries, domestic abuse, housing problems, claiming benefits and tax credits entitlement.
Sally Pickering is the chief executive of the Stroud CAB, which provides advice services across both the Stroud and Cotswold Districts.
She said: “Feedback from people who’ve used the CAB shows that 81 per cent of them report a reduction in stress, anxiety and depression after receiving advice.
“Much of our work involves helping people manage their money and the resulting increased income can have tangible health benefits too, from, for example, being able to afford to heat the home adequately or feed the children more nutritious food.”
The AGM will take place on Wednesday, September 16, at 10am at Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, Stroud. Everyone is welcome to attend.
