A 34-YEAR-OLD Dursley man "completely lost his head" during a day in August, assaulted his girlfriend, drove her car dangerously while disqualified and then damaged the vehicle, a court heard.

Steven Sarkozi of Tilner Crescent, Norman Hill, in Dursley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Samantha Pavey, causing her actual bodily harm on Friday, August 7, this year.

At Gloucester Crown Court on Thursday, September 3, he also pleaded guilty to driving Miss Pavey's Vauxhall Vectra dangerously and driving while disqualified, all on the same date.

He denied aggravated vehicle taking, stealing a mobile phone and bank card belonging to Samantha Pavey, damaging furniture in her home and possessing two bladed articles in a public place.

Prosecuting barrister Julian Kesner said that the Crown accepted the not guilty pleas with the exception of the possession of the bladed articles – two knives found in the Vauxhall Vectra.

Defending lawyer Joe Maloney said: "My client maintains that the knives were already in the vehicle and were used in connection with his work.

"Also it is my belief that the parties in this incident are now reconciled."

His Honour Judge Jamie Tabor QC said: "It is clear that the defendant completely lost his head on this occasion but as he is pleading not guilty to the bladed article charge there will have to be a trial on that issue.

"Knife crime is a sensitive issue."

A plea and case management hearing will be held on December 17.
