A SINGING group in Alveston raised more than £1875 last year for charity.

Alveston Singers raised the money during concerts across the region throughout 2016.

Their last concert on Saturday, December 17, was their Christmas carol celebration at Thornbury Baptist Church which raised £520 during their collection.

The money raised will be divided between the charities Meningitis Now, and BRACE – a charity which supports dementia research.

On behalf of the group member Jean Aellen said: “Alveston Singers thank all of you who supported us last year, we really appreciate your generosity.

"We look forward to welcoming you to our concerts in 2017, and wish you all a happy New Year.”
