EMERGENCY resurfacing work to repair the carriageway on the M5 northbound, which closed three lanes yesterday, have finished.

Work on the failing 200-metre section of road at Tickenham Hill began yesterday at 3.30pm and completed at 7.45pm, between junctions 20, for Clevedon, and junction 19 for Portishead, resulting in considerable traffic.

All four lanes now reopened to traffic.

Highways England network operations manager Rob Llewellyn said: “We have worked hard to put the repairs in place as quickly as possible and to avoid further disruption through the week.

“We appreciate the closure had an impact on traffic during today’s evening peak, but the forecast of heavy rain prevented us from repairing the carriageway overnight, we apologise for the inconvenience and we thank people for their patience during this essential work.”
