A SIXTH form in Dursley has recorded its highest ever A-level results as scores of students get set for the next step.
Of its 90 Year 13 students, Rednock School saw those achieving three grades between A* to E rise to 85 per cent while those achieving two of the same grade rose to 95 per cent.
Every student got at least one A level and the average point score rose to 202.8, the highest it has ever been for the school.
What we try and do is make sure they get the results they need for their next step.
The results saw a big rise in the average score for boys, who traditionally fall behind girls academically.
Headteacher David Alexander said staff and students had done particularly well to improve after changes to the exam structure mid way through the academic year, including a clamp down on re-sits.
“We’re particularly pleased with the results this year, it has been very successful,” he said.
“This is a positive five year story. We have put in a lot of hard work during this period to push the school forward and that’s the direction we’re going in.
“We have also got kids going into vocational areas and apprenticeships. We make sure everyone gets what they need, which is crucial for a comprehensive school.”
