DEMENTIA researchers will come together to hold a free public meeting to discuss the landscape of their work.

Scientists and clinicians from Bristol and Bath will shed light on progress being made into dementia diagnosis and treatment on September 4, in The Hilton, Bath.

The meeting is organised by members of the Alzheimer’s Research UK Bristol and Bath Research Network, a community of scientists working in the region to research the condition.

There will be an open panel discussion, where researchers will be joined by those involved in dementia care. The panel will include dementia experts from a variety of backgrounds, including dementia researcher Dr Robert Williams and a former consultant neuroradiologist Dr Tim Lewis.

Director of RICE Professor Roy Jones, who will be chairing and speaking at the meeting said: “This meeting is an exciting opportunity for local people to find out about research going on to defeat dementia in our area.

“We will be discussing the ‘Changing Landscape of Dementia’ because we are now in a position to diagnose dementia at an earlier stage using new techniques and hopefully giving us a more accurate diagnosis as well.”

The free event will take place between 7 and 9pm on Thursday, September 4, at The Hilton, in Walcot Street, Bath.
