VISITORS to an open day at the Manor Hall in Coalpit Heath were able to see the result of a £100,000 facelift.
The listed Victorian building underwent the refurbishment after being well used as a village hall for nearly 40 years.
A grant of £60,000 from the SITA Trust contributed to the cost of the work, which included renovating windows, stripping wooden floors and reinstating some wooden panelling.
Some finishing touches, including the last lot of decorating, will be completed during the half-term break but the whole building is fully open now that the project has come to an end.
Thornbury and Yate MP Steve Webb was invited to officially open the new-look hall and see the facilities available to local people.
He also handed over a plaque recognising the contribution by the SITA Trust, which will be hung on the wall of the entrance lobby once that part of the building has been painted.
The hall management team said a number of people took the chance to see the building and it is hoped it will lead to more bookings. Anyone interested in making use of the facility should call Alison Allan on 07873 747513.
