SIXTH formers at Katharine Lady Berkeley's School have created a mural of shop fronts for residents at a residential care home in Hawkesbury Upton.

The art students used their skills to develop the feature for Beaufort House, which cares for people with dementia.

They researched, designed and painted the mural to show the kind of shop fronts which would have been familiar in about the 1950s.

It has now been placed in the garden of the High Street home to be enjoyed by residents, whose memories can be prompted through the appearance of the type of shops they may have seen when they were younger.

Some of the students involved in the project, with Richard Hall, the deputy head of art at the Wotton-under-Edge school, were invited to Beaufort House for tea with the residents and staff so they could be thanked for their work.

Anne Weaver , activities co-ordinator, at Beaufort House, said material for the project had been donated by well-wishers of the home.
