THE Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue service was called to rescue a sheep stuck in mud in the River Severn at Norton.
The fire service was called to a sheep in the River Severn at Wainlode Hill at 12.09pm today, after the caller reported that the animal was stuck in mud at the edge of the river.
Appliances from Gloucester South and Gloucester North fire stations were mobilised to form an animal rescue team and a boat team.
The animal was rescued uninjured and was returned to the farmer.
The crews were detained at the scene a total of one hour.
