AN ELDERLY man was rescued by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue after becoming trapped in his vehicle following a crash yesterday morning. 

At 11.31am the fire service received a call from South Western Ambulance Service requesting their attendance at a road traffic collision on the Spine Road West at Somerford Keynes, where an elderly man was trapped in his vehicle.

Both appliances from Cirencester Community Fire Station attended the incident with a total crew of 11.

The injured gentleman was extricated from his vehicle by fire crews before being lifted to hospital by air ambulance. Both fire crews returned to the station after one hour and 20 minutes.
