AN ASPIRING young sheep breeder from Kingswood earned herself a special rosette at a presentation honouring the year’s leading performers in the field.

Charlie Clements, 14, picked up her prize at the Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Breeders’ Assocation’s annual meeting and awards presentation, which attracted one of the best turnouts in recent years.

Charlie is the granddaughter of John and Ann Griffiths, who run the well-known Southend Wensleydale flock.

Having shown her grandparents’ flock on many occasions, performing in various young handlers’ competitions, she last year established her own Alma Lodge flock and currently has a ram and two ewes.

She has high hope of moving forward with her new flock and making her own mark on the show circuit.

The Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Breeders Association is the official body governing the promotion of the Wensleydale breed, the maintenance of a register of animals eligible for registration, and upholding the characteristics of the breed.
