A FASHION show raised nearly £1,000 in Chipping Sodbury in aid of a children's charity which is supporting those affected by the earthquakes in Nepal.

The Chipping Sodbury Branch of the Save the Children Fund held a fashion show in April in the town hall, which raised a total of £980.70 towards the charity.

The funds have focussed on the Nepal Appeal in particular, which aims to support those in need of help after a second major earthquake struck Nepal earlier this month, just two weeks after a devastating earthquake left nearly 8,000 people dead and 3 million children in danger.

Linda Bryant, secretary and treasurer, said: "The fashion show was presented by the Roman Shop at Yate and was attended by around 80 ladies who not only saw the fashions presented by the Roman Ladies fashion shop, but it was a great get together for a natter.

"The ticket price gave them a 10 per cent discount at the shop for a week and we also held a raffle to raise funds.

"The money raised has been forwarded to Save the Children Head Quarters for the Nepal appeal and we would like to say a big thank you to all those who attended, and also for their generosity."
