SALES at a new elderly people’s development in Chipping Sodbury have exceeded expectations with nearly 70 per cent already sold.

The 60 one and two-bedroom apartments at the McCarthy and Stone assisted living development at Barnhill Court are selling out fast making it a huge success for the company which has not built in Chipping Sodbury before.

Jacqui Meenan, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We’re truly overwhelmed by the fantastic response to our new Chipping Sodbury development, which is proving highly popular with the over 70s market.

“The demand we’re currently experiencing is certainly testament to the real need for this type of housing in the area, and we’re delighted to have welcomed some of our first homeowners who are currently enjoying all Barnhill Court has to offer.”

The development is next to the town’s Waitrose supermarket and the first phase of a new housing development on the former Barnhill Quarry.

It is aimed at bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care.

Homeowners are able to retain their independence through home ownership, with their own front door, yet still have the peace of mind of a range of 24/7 security and support services.
