COMMUNITY groups in South Gloucestershire have a month left to apply for a Wessex Water grant.

The company is offering grants of up to £10,000 for projects which help with money management or a financial capability project. The water company will also allow up to 25 per cent of additional funding to help the beneficiaries evaluate the project once it is finished.

The Money Matters grants are available to debt advice agencies, schools and colleges, parish councils, youth clubs, social enterprises and other community organisations based in the Wessex Water region.

Wessex Water’s customer engagement and social policy manager, Kate Pennock, said that supporting money management and financial capability projects across the region was vital for helping customers organise their household bills.

“For some customers, understanding and managing money doesn’t come easy,” she said.

“We want to equip people in financial difficulty with the necessary money management skills.”

The deadline is December 31 when applications of up to £10,000 will be considered by a panel of experts, whether it be a new project or an ongoing one, and the awards will be given out in January 2016.
