INCREDIBLE acts of generosity are taking Thornbury by storm, as businesses and residents pledge to help fundraising for crash victim Lewis Evans.

The 18-year-old from Thornbury has been left with severe injuries on the Greek island of Zante after a quad bike crash while on holiday.

Having been left in a critical condition with a hole in each lung, he will need to be medically transported back to the UK in order to get the full treatment he needs, with the family desperately campaigning to fundraise.

More than £8,000 has been raise so far on a JustGiving page, working towards the £30,000 target they need.

Companies in the town have pledged to fundraise for the SGS college student, in a string of amazing acts of community spirit to help return him safely home.

Among them are two of the barbers on Thornbury High Street, Craig Sysum Barbers and Wallace Barbers, who have both pledged all profits made from sales this Sunday.

“We just really want to do something to help,” said Craig Sysum barber Paul Hawker, who’s partner is Lewis’ aunt.

“We have some fantastic customers, many have already begun donating, as have some and are hoping for a great turnout.

“Lewis’ family will be joining us and will be running a raffle to try and get the ball rolling.”

Cole Wallace, owner of Wallace Barbers, said: “Lewis is a genuinely nice lad and I can’t really believe what has happened. We want to raise as much money for him as we can.

“My heart goes out to the whole family, it is absolutely devastating what has happened, and we are trying to do everything we can to help.”

Also fundraising tomorrow and Saturday will be Rick’s Ink Tattoo Parlour on the Thornbury trading estate, which is hosting a cake sale in support of Lewis.

Next Friday, the Black Horse will be holding a raffle at 7pm to contribute to the effort, with prize donations already on offer including paintballing, VIP passes to a Bristol nightclub, and a range of meals.

Boxes for donations are also available in store at Tesco in Thornbury, which is also running a tombola.
