RESULTS at Wotton-under-Edge’s Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School were slightly up on last year with almost two-thirds of grades between A* and B.

Despite changes to the way some subjects are assessed, the number of grades students at the school were awarded which fell into the benchmark rose from 61 per cent to 65 per cent.

Amongst the school’s highest achievers were Henry Patterson and Benjy Wells who both received four A* grades.

Benjy, from Kingswood and who studied maths, further maths, physics and economics, will now start the next stage of his education in September when he begins his university studies at University College London.

The 18-year-old said he was “relieved” to have been awarded the grades he needed to be awarded a place at the university.

More than a third (34.2 per cent) of all grades were either A* or A and headteacher Andrew Harris said he was “delighted” with the results students had been awarded.

“What this year’s results show is that we have a great bunch of really hardworking students and teachers,” he said.

“The results they have achieved reflect really well on their commitment to their studies and also reflects the judgments of Ofsted earlier this year”.

In May the school was given a ‘good’ rating by the education watchdog although three of the five assessed areas were deemed to be ‘outstanding’.

Other high performers included Megan Stewart from Horsley who received A*AA, Izzy Zedda from Wotton with A*A*A grades and Henry Jones from Kingswood who was awarded A*A*A.
