DURSLEY finished an outstanding season with another clean sheet and victory.

With 14 wins and a draw from 16 matches Dursley have performed exceptionally well and earned their championship success.

This was no easy match for Dursley. Thornbury played well and Dursley keeper Hayley Able was forced to make several saves and clearances during the match. Dursley went ahead after 10 minutes when a sequence of passes between Caitlin Cother, Clare Rodgers and Karis Longdon ended with Karis slotting home from close range.

Thornbury responded well and forced two short corners which were cleared. The lead was doubled with an excellent solo effort by Maddie Tuck who dribbled the ball around several defenders before hitting a cracking shot into the net.

Amber Coombes and Pip Cory made strong runs down the right and Clare Rodgers had a good shot saved so that the score remained 0 – 2 at half time.

After the break Thornbury put pressure on the Dursley defence but Linzi Moulder, Captain Stacey Sealey and Nadia Mellerup st6ood firm aided by Cory and Rodgers who covered a lot of the pitch in breaking up Thornbury attacks.

Chloe McGregor crossed the ball well and forced another save by the home keeper before Rodgers scored from close in to end the scoring. Charlie Strickland made an excellent stop and clearance and Lara Moir put in several strong challenges to ensure Dursley’s 10th clean sheet this season.
