Kenneth John (Ken) Harris

HARRIS Kenneth John (Ken) Passed away suddenly, but peacefully at Southmead Hospital on the 8th May 2017, aged 86 years. Loving Husband to Desiree, devoted Dad and wonderful Grandad. Who will be so sadly missed by all who knew him. The Funeral Service will be held at Westerleigh Crematorium Waterside Chapel on Thursday, 1st June at 11am. Family flowers only, donations if desired to Southmead Hospital ICU Gate 38 or Meningitis Research Foundation c/o L & J Gulwell Funeral Directors, 1 Quaker Lane, Thornbury.

To fondly recall the influence of my RE teacher 50 years ago says much about Ken Harris. As I set out in my formative years at the Castle School for life’s long journey, Ken showed the way to have friendly and respectful discussions with people of differing opinions and traditions; a most valuable attribute today as ever it was. Ken was always calmly tolerant of my incessant questions. I was so pleased to meet him again last September to remind him of our enjoyable weekly chats some 50 years earlier. Ken’s warm personality will surely be missed. My heart-felt condolences to Desiree and his family.
