Concorde video offer

CONCORDE'S final flight on November 26, 2003, will remain unforgettable in the hearts and minds of thousands of people.

This 80-minute video is a comprehensive account of that special day, featuring digital film captured by cameras positioned throughout the Bristol area, from vantage points such as Bristol Cathedral, Cumberland Basin, Purdown, Horfield and residential tower blocks.

Concorde, the supersonic dream that became a reality, finally came to rest at Filton 34 years after its first flight from the very same airfield.

The Concorde project occupied more than 23,000 employees in Bristol and many thousands elsewhere, including the factory at Toulouse in France.

Filton has experienced the excitement of many first flights but the scenes captured on this special souvenir video will never be repeated. Many thousands of loyal Concorde fans lined the A38, as well as footbridges and rooftops, for the best possible view as senior Concorde Captains Les Brodie and Mike Bannister steered the youngest of the Concorde fleet, GB0AF, back to its spiritual home.

Spectators could also enjoy a long fly-pass that included Filton, Henbury, Avonmouth, Portishead, Clevedon, Weston-Super-Mare and Central Bristol and districts such as Downend, Kingswood, Yate and Winterbourne.

This video is to be treasured as a permanent reminder of the only passenger aircraft to travel at twice the speed of sound, on the very boundaries of space. And the Gazette has teamed up with the producer to offer it at £12.95 post-free.

ALREADY proving topically popular again is 1st Take's Concorde 110-minute video, orginally released in 1999 to celebrate the 30th birthday of Concorde, the world's only supersonic airliner.

Key people from all aspects of its design, development and production share their Concorde memories. Extensive excerpts of previously unreleased archive film illustrate the full fascinating story of this unique and beautiful aircraft, including the first flight of both Concorde 001 and 002.

Brian Trubshaw, who piloted 002 on her maiden flight from Filton on April 9 1969, recollects that momentous day. Other highlights include Concorde's 30th anniversary celebrations in Bristol. And the Gazette has teamed up with the producer to offer it at £12.95 post-free.

A NEW video, which traces Bristol's long and fascinating history by way of a tour around a number of the most interesting historic sites, is now available. And the Gazette has again teamed up with the producer to offer it at £12.95 post-free.

The 80-minute video, Exploring Bristol's History, produced by local history specialist 1st Take, from Yate, was made with the help of some of the city's best known local historians and academics. Bristol Record Office also made a significant contribution, as they provided fascinating excerpts of archive film of the city from the early 1950s while live performances by John Shaw, the accomplished musician and folk singer, adds yet another delightful dimension to the exploration of the city's past.
