DURSLEY travelled down the A38 to Thornbury last week in a pre-match warm up to Bream in the league this week and after last week's disappointing league result in Bristol, Dursley needed a lift in confidence before this vital league game.

The first half started well for both teams, the forwards up front for both teams battled hard for the ball and the backs of both teams looking for the breaks and after some strong pressure a penalty was given, Thornbury hiked a penalty.

Thornbury struck again out wide for the next score, 10-0. Rob Frost then struck for the visitors with a superb move neatly finished. Powell converted for 10-7.

Thornbury then struck again before the end of the half, leaving a half time score of 15-7.

After the break Dursley looked a more dangerous attacking side, with the forwards doing the work up front effectively leaving Powell to release his back line of Jones, Frost, Scott and Price, every attack looked dangerous and with the back row of Christian, Woodward and Hull sweeping up well to retain possession, Dursley looked likely to take the next score, which came through Benny Price, a well worked line out and drive saw Price with a trade mark try. 15-12.

Prop Greg Allen was next to score, finding himself clear from 35 yards after a misplaced pass by the Thornbury full back, using his footballing skills he chipped on and sprinted off, the ball bounced perfectly into his stride and he duly powered over to score, Powell converting 15-19.

Mark Perry received a yellow card before centre Rob Frost finished the game with another try, 15-24. Thornbury did grab a consolation try before the end. Tomorrow Dursley play Bream at home, kick off 2.30pm.
