Pro-hunting at 59 percent

SIR - How I agree with your correspondent, J Freeland (Letters, December 12), regarding the hunting with dogs issue and the so called 59 per cent that say hunting should continue. In my opinion this 59 per cent can only be arrived at by thinking of a number and doubling it twice (It's a wonder they hadn't evened it up to 60).

Fox-hunting takes place about six months of the year. What happens to these people who are going to be put out of a job? Do they go abroad on holiday or as many of them seem to do, carry on drawing their social security or maybe both? The sooner this stag hunting and all blood sports are brought to an end along with the House of Lords, the better for all of us.
