Support for club wins recognition

A MAJOR employer in Wotton-under-Edge has received an award in recognition of its support of Rotary activities.

Renishaw Plc has received the Paul Harris Certificate of Appreciation Award to mark the company's support of the Cotswold Tyndale Rotary Club.

Renishaw chairman and chief executive Sir David McMurtry, who is a founder member of the Rotary Club of Cotswold Tyndale, received the award on behalf of the company from club president Alan Hill.

Mr Hill praised the company saying: "Renishaw is a proactive partner and friend to Rotary. The company added value to several club nights by hosting events, together with the annual mock interviews for pupils from Katharine Lady Berkeley's School."

The club, which celebrates its 20th birthday in October, annually awards the Paul Harris Awards, which are named after Rotary founder.

Mr Hill added: " His philosophy service above self still holds true today, with Rotary clubs around the world supporting local, national and international humanitarian projects."

Cotswold Tyndale Rotarian Tony Cowell has also received a personal Paul Harris Award.

Mr Hill explained the awards are given in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.

"Tony has done sterling work for Rotary's own charity foundation and has represented the club at national conferences," he said.

"Tony is also a founder member of the club and has held several offices, including president."
