Bizarre break-in: police appeal

POLICE have appealed for information after a bizarre break-in at Woodchester Mansion on December 28.

The premises were entered but nothing was stolen and an empty bottle of wine was left behind.

The cost of repairing damage caused by the intruder has been estimated at £200.

Sgt Phil Mohamed said: "We know it wasn't Santa Claus because they came through the window and not down the chimney. We are examining the bottle for DNA traces but, if anyone saw anything suspicious in the area, then we would like to hear from them."

Anyone with information can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or the police on 0845 0901234.
