THE HUNT for six pedigree Chihuahuas stolen from near Chippenham last week has focused on Dursley.
Thieves broke into kennels belonging to Margaret Greening, 70, in Grittleton and stole six of her 12 dogs, valued at around £5,000.
Because of their value it is thought that the dogs may have been stolen to order.
However, one of the animals, a pregnant bitch called Ellie May, was found abandoned in a basket in the Dursley area on Monday.
Police think that it is possible that the other five Chihuahuas are being held nearby.
Sgt Colin Ford said: "If anyone knows of someone who has recently come into the possession of a Chihuahua, we would like them to get in touch."
Anyone with any information can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, police on 0845 0901234 or PC Mandy Richie, of Chippenham, on 01249 654455.
