Wotton Squash Club's A Team suffered their biggest defeat of the season against top of the table Tewkesbury Park A.

At number 5 for Wotton, Nigel Ball was quickly disposed of by Dave Gandy 5-9, 2-9, 5-9. It was a similar story for Wotton number 4 Dave Fuzzell who played Matt Waterton. After a close first game Fuzzell was soon off court losing 7-9, 5-9, 3-9.

Dale Curtis at number 2 played Craig White. Curtis made a lot of mistakes in the first 2 games and only really challenged his opponent in the third game. The result was the same as his teammates and he lost by 2-9, 5-9, 7-9.

Nigel Tovey at number 1 played Ashley Hayes from Tewkesbury Park. Tovey started well and soon had his opponent under pressure. The Wotton star was soon 2 games to 1 up but Hayes broke a racket and after a lot of swapping of rackets Tovey lost his concentration. Somehow Hayes came back to win by 9-7, 6-9, 9-0, 4-9, 4-9.

Last on court for Wotton was number 3 Dave Primrose. The Wotton player arrived late after a crisis at work and after a slow start managed to take the third game. Unfortunately his game then fell apart completely and he lost the match by 2-9, 3-9, 9-7, 1-9.

This gave Wotton only 3 points out of a possible 20 in their toughest match of the season.
