Berkeley Town 8 Ruardean Hill Rangers 1
AFTER scoring ten the week before Berkeley Town were hungry for more goals and more importantly another win.
Town were out of the blocks so quickly they scored in the second minute when Reece's corner went straight in leaving the keeper embarrassed. Town then took firm control of this game with strong tackling and quality passing. Town had good chances before the second goal with Reece and Langford but they both failed to convert.
When the second goal finally arrived it was a defensive error that gave Beames the chance to get on the score sheet and he made no mistake. The third was just five minutes after when Langford was fouled on the edge of the box and Lavis curled an unstoppable free kick into the top corner.
Beames then got his second and Town's fourth goal with a shot from the edge of the box, which beat the keeper at his near post. Town made it five right on half time when another defensive error was pounced on by Langford, who ran round the keeper to tap into the empty net.
After the half time team talk Town continued to push forward and create chances with Booth and Reece going close. But it was Hill that got the next goal when a towering header from the centre half beat Stevenson from just inside the box. That was Town's wake up call and they responded well be getting the goal straight back when Ashby was put through by Reece to clip over the keeper.
Town then made some substitutes and that meant it was the return of the one and only Rob Norris after a long term injury. He made a good impact by laying the ball to Langford who beat two defenders and bent the ball round the keeper for Town's seventh. The scoring was complete five minutes from time when Booth crossed from the left and Ashby side footed into the net from 20 yards for his second goal of the game.
Another great result for Town and with players all coming back to full fitness they should get stronger and stronger.
Tomorrow Town are away to Lydbrook Athletic with the game being played at Mitcheldean's ground. Kick off 2.30pm.
