Calendar a success

SALES of the Dursley Town Hall Calendar 2004 have raised more than £2,200 for the Town Hall Charity Trust.

With the calendar now almost sold out, organisers have thanked everyone who has helped to sell them.

The money will go towards the repainting of the outside of the town hall.

Dursley Town Trust chairman the Rev Ernie Clarke said: "Our thanks go to the managers of the Co-op, Kwiksave and Somerfield, who allowed us to sell the calendars at their supermarkets.

"We must also thank Peter Bailey and his staff at Dursley post office, together with the staff at Inches, The Traditional Bakery and Dursley Pet Shop . A special mention must be made of Brenda Butt, who sold 35 calendars herself."

"The sale of the calendar is one of the trust's most important sources of income towards the substantial costs of maintaining the town hall.

"The generosity of the local population has enabled us to sell our print run. It has also helped to publicise Dursley, as copies have been sent all over the world."

Plans for the publication of the 2005 calendar are already under way and the trust will consider any photographs of Dursley and the surrounding area for publication.

Photographs may be handed in at the Town Council Offices, 35 Silver Street.
