Key role for cup

TWO organisations have each benefited to the tune of £1,000 thanks to the Stroud Charity Football Cup Competition.

The recipients are the Spring Centre in Quedgeley and the Music Space Trust in Matson, the presentations being made by John Mutton, a member of the cup committee, and vice chairman George Tudor.

Competition president Dennis Mason said that possible beneficiaries from the tourney were suggested by clubs in the competition area, and it was thanks to the excellent support which was forthcoming that the money could be handed out.

The competition is 84 years old this year, having been founded in 1920 as the Stroud Hospital Cup Competition, when £50 was raised for the hospital.
