Akimbo lighten up

A SLIMBRIDGE duet has recorded its debut album and is hoping the eclectic sound will appeal to a wide audience.

Musicians Chris and Kim Sturt, of Tyning Crescent, decided to form the group Akimbo, having previously been in a rock band.

The pair explained: "We made this album after being in rock band for two years. We needed to do something light. The first CD we made was with the rock band and this is a really pleasant departure for us."

The tracks for the album, All I Want, were recorded over a 12-month period in the couple's Gloucestershire studio.

They added: "There are two of us in Akimbo. We are a partnership in life and a partnership in music - it works well for us."

Two of the tracks from the album were put on the internet and guitar teacher Mr Sturt explained they have received positive feed-back.

"We put the tracks on the internet to see what response they would get and couldn't have been more pleased with people commenting the tracks were amazing with great vocals."

Akimbo is considering playing some live dates later in the year and is planning a second album.
