MP backs nappy campaign

STROUD MP David Drew has joined the many environmentally-conscious individuals and organisations who have endorsed the Gloucestershire campaign promoting the use of reusable nappies.

They agreed that with the amount of disposable nappies going to landfill each year, both environmentally and economically real nappies are the better alternative, saying "real nappies don't cost the earth!"

Real Nappy Month started on Monday and runs until April 4. The Gloucestershire Get it Sorted Waste Campaign is working in partnership with Jayne Burke, real nappy expert and founder of the Gloucestershire Real Nappy Network, in order to raise awareness and provide up-to-date information on the benefits and availability of real nappies.

Talks and demonstrations are being held at clinics, health centres and "nappuccinos" (coffee mornings) throughout March. All events will provide information and literature together with an opportunity to enter a prize draw to win gift vouchers and real nappies.

Among all these activities, and to mark National Real Nappy Week, a special event will be held at Ballyhoo, Leisureland Park, Chosen View Road, Cheltenham, on Wednesday, March 31.

For up-to-date information about real nappies, or to get involved with events in your area during March, people can call Jayne Burke at Gloucestershire Real Nappy Network on 01242 604312.
